Super Micro Computer stock fell Tuesday after a contractor pleaded guilty in an alleged $2.5 billion AI server export case involving Nvidia-linked hardware.

Why Is Super Micro Computer Stock Falling on Tuesday? Super Micro Computer Inc. (NASDAQ:SMCI) stock is falling Tuesday after last week’s export-control case continues to weigh on investor sentiment. A broader decline in semiconductor and AI-related stocks is adding to the pressure. Nasdaq futures are down 0.70% while S&P 500 futures have shed 0.03%. On Thursday, a company-linked contractor pleaded guilty to illegally exporting servers, equipped with advanced Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:NVDA) AI chips, to China in an alleged $2.5 billion scheme. Read Also: Elon Musk Fires Back at Broadcom CEO Hock Tan's AI Investment Warning: 'No Crying in the Casino' Contractor Pleads Guilty Ting-Wei "Willy" Sun entered the plea Thursday in U.S. District Court in Manhattan, Reuters reported, citing a court filing. The case involves servers with advanced Nvidia chips in an alleged $2.5 billion scheme. Sun pleaded guilty to conspiring to violate U.S. export controls, smuggling, defrauding the U.S. government and obstructing justice. What the Indictment Alleges Prosecutors allege that Sun and two others linked to Super Micro illegally diverted AI servers to China starting in 2024, using fake servers and misleading U.S. Commerce Department officials during a December 2025 inspection. The indictment says the shipments violated U.S. export restrictions covering Nvidia’s advanced AI chips, including the B200, H100 and H200. Super Micro said it fired Sun and severed ties with the other defendants earlier this year. Technical Analysis From a trend perspective, SMCI still holds a constructive longer-term structure: it’s trading above its 50-day SMA ($38.24), 100-day SMA ($35.31), and 200-day SMA ($32.37), keeping the intermediate uptrend intact even as the stock wobbles day to day. At the same time, it’s trading 6.1% below its 20-day SMA ($41.33), a sign the most recent push higher has cooled and rallies are meeting supply sooner. Momentum is best framed through RSI, which sits at 48.77—basically neutral—suggesting the stock isn’t stretched enough to force a snapback, but also isn’t showing strong upside pressure right now. The moving-average backdrop also explains why traders are watching pullbacks closely: the 20-day SMA remains above the 50-day SMA (a bullish alignment), and the golden cross that occurred in August (50-day SMA over the 200-day SMA) still argues the bigger picture has improved versus late 2025. Key Resistance: $42 Key Support: $35.50 SMCI Stock Price Activity: Super Micro Computer shares were down 3% at $38.78 during premarket trading on Tuesday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
